TRAVEL RETAIL

SMI has secured over 90% of the commercial space (over 6,700sqm) in the air side of Yangon International Airport’s (“YIA”) new terminal for 10 years. This long term agreement has allowed SMI to introduce world class multi-category duty free supplied by DFS and also a wide range of international fashion and lifestyle brands, most of which have not been present in Myanmar. These impressive developments have attracted the attention and interest of number of leading real estate developers in Yangon.

DOMESTIC RETAIL - FASHION

SMI also secured 65% of the commercial space in level 1 of Junction City, Myanmar’s first luxury retail mall that opened in March 2017. Since then, eight mono-brand stores have been opened, featuring brands that are present at YIA. SMI is in discussion with a number of other real estate developers for exciting new retail opportunities.

DOMESTIC RETAIL - COSMETICS

After having successfully signed a nation-wide agreement with Shiseido, SMI has built the first flagship counter in Junction City and looks forward to the development of Shiseido counters across the country, in line with this leading cosmetics brand’s global image and positioning.

SMI will continue to look for other retail brands and concepts which it believes will fit the market opportunity in Myanmar and align with SMI’s strengths, particularly its high quality international brand management capabilities.
